Grenay Learner Pool

Programme an 8 × 12.5 m learner pool covering 100 sqm, with a constant depth of 1.30 m

Description

The town of Grenay has 4 primary schools and one lower secondary school. In order to allow children to learn swimming, it has decided to build its own swimming pool at a very low cost: 2 group changing rooms, optimised surfaces for sanitary facilities, decks and plant rooms. A reception office, 1 storage room. Boiler room and air-handling unit on the ground floor.
The facility is pragmatic and sober in its choice of materials, in order to keep within the initial budget envelope and limit operating costs. Set on a site under the supervision of the ABF (Architectes des Bâtiments de France).

In order to comply with the recommendations of the French Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports — which define learner pools by the following characteristics: "with an area of 100 sqm or less and a maximum depth of 1.30 m" — and with the constraints of the regulations on biological bathing waters, which require 10 m³ of accessible water surface per bather, we sized the pool to allow the highest possible Maximum Instantaneous Capacity (FMI), while remaining within the framework defined by the recommendations on Aquatic Confidence.

The pool can accommodate 13 people simultaneously (potentially 26 once the decree is passed).
Proposed FMI: 52 people (i.e. 2 groups of 26 in rotation between 2 sessions).
Maximum Daily Capacity (FMJ): 130 people. If France Expérimentation authorises doubling the FMJ, it could reach 260.
