Project overview

Project overview

The new Amboise swimming pool will, through its exemplarity, mark a new generation of public swimming pools resolutely respectful of the environment and of bathers' health.

The building is designed with healthy and sustainable materials, reducing its ecological footprint. We have used timber as a structural material — but also for the roof terrace of the changing rooms — a natural mineral fill (Misapor type) that is both insulating and draining for the pools, and cork floor finishes in the changing rooms to ensure user comfort while limiting environmental impact.

Biological filtration for biological water treatment, delivering an unprecedented bathing quality by eliminating the use of chlorine, which is responsible for irritation and discomfort for bathers.

A significant reduction in energy needs through good thermal performance of the structure and an optimised energy balance, with a high level of natural-light autonomy.

Use of renewable energies and energy recovery, notably solar energy through hybrid photovoltaic panels producing both heat for the pool and electricity for the building. This system advances the thinking around energy-autonomous buildings.

Energy-recovery systems on greywater, on flue gases from boiler chimneys, and on the thermodynamic plant of the pool hall, in order to significantly reduce heating needs.

A reduction in water consumption through high-performance pool filtration, water-saving devices on the sanitary fittings, and rainwater harvesting for cleaning purposes.
