Pevèle-Carambault Aquatic Centre
Water Integrative Innovation // 59242 Cappelle-en-Pévèle
The project
On reading the brief and visiting the site, we became aware of the importance of the territory, of public service, of respect for political commitments and of the experience to be offered to the population. We understood that it was important to propose a new generation of aquatic centre — exemplary in its efficiency, its inscription in the territory, and its commitment to future generations.
Drawing on our expertise in this field, we have made every effort to combine in this project:
- Site integration and architectural quality,
- User comfort and energy performance,
- Controlled budget and sustainable materials.
Project overview
It is not the service or the quality of a facility that defines rurality or urbanity. It is rather the respect for its environment, its siting, its ostentatious or restrained character, the materials used…
What is a rural aquatic centre? It is a place rooted in its territory, through its form and its materials, offering healthy leisure, generating quality jobs, drawing on renewable resources that do not depend on distant territories. It is the very opposite of a city — sometimes detached from the ground, dependent on distant resources, and offering activities that are sometimes superficial.
We believe that architecture should not "impose itself" but rather integrate harmoniously, without however hiding from the public. An innovative and ambitious project, the aquatic centre is nonetheless perfectly integrated into its environment through discreet, functional architecture, free of superfluous demonstration. A preliminary study of the local architectural typologies of the Pévèle inspired our volumes, materials, tones, textures and roof plays. The result is a contemporary interpretation of the local architecture, in order to preserve that essential sense of rural atmosphere.
In order to reduce operating costs, every effort has been made to achieve guaranteed energy performance. Bioclimatic design and the composition of the thermal envelope, combined with pragmatic solutions for water and energy production and recovery, enable significant reductions in consumption. We can stand by these commitments thanks to our recognised experience, our combined skills, and our energy monitoring and performance guarantees.
The biological treatment of bathing water provides essential health safety for all users — particularly the youngest — and for staff, who benefit from an atmosphere free of chloramines. It has already been validated and recognised on several projects by the ARS (Regional Health Agency). Beyond exceptional comfort, this biological system enables significant energy savings through the optimisation of air treatment. It also makes it possible to use sustainable, natural materials that are incompatible with chlorine. We believe it is a priority to protect the public from health risks in public facilities.
Mindful of your attention and expertise on budgetary matters, we offer efficient and reliable construction solutions to guarantee the economic feasibility of your project — including a choice of healthy and economical materials that considerably reduce its ecological footprint, and a fair return of public funds to local economic actors.
From this competition phase onwards, the design has been thoroughly mastered through a digital model. This BIM model has already made it possible to confirm the economic compatibility of the project and its level of energy performance. It will be used throughout all construction phases and beyond, in operation, to guarantee the team's commitments.
